After deciding to race a few triathlons again, my cycling volume has decreased. I don’t really think it is that much of a problem, but the test will come in a few days when I head out to race #2 in the 6 Hours of Temecula series. I don’t feel as if I am that great of shape right now. My training earlier this year left a lot to be desired and I’m only a few weeks in to trying to get back into shape.
To try to prepare myself a little for the race, I decided to commute by MTB into work today. It was a tad overcast and got a tad wet when I climbed to higher elevations, leaving my bike and myself covered in a thin layer of dust.
The ride went well except for one minor incident. My chain jumped between the cassette and spokes, which took me several minutes to fix. A possibly slightly loose rear wheel may have been the culprit, but I will adjust my limit screw just to be sure that issue doesn’t present itself again.
I stopped a handful of times to grab a few pictures. It’s nice to be able to get in a decent MTB ride on the way to work with minimal streets in between. Moreno Valley can be a pretty nice place to live for a mountain biker.
